Martin Luther taught that we are to rise and say, “I am baptized into Christ” and then go about our daily affairs living in the covenant God made with us in our Baptism. Baptism is how the church shares God’s gift of Salvation to the world. In the Lutheran church, we baptize both infants whose parents take on the promise to grow into the faith as well as adults who can answer for themselves.
In the baptism, we make a commitment:
- to live among God’s faithful people,
- to come to the Word of God and the Holy Supper,
- to learn the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments,
- to read the holy scriptures, so that we may learn to trust God,
- proclaim Christ through word and deed,
- care for others and the world God made,
- and work for justice and peace.
To be baptized at Salem parents and new believers need only speak to Pastor Ken. He will schedule a time to meet and set a time for baptism.

We invite you to watch this brief video about baptism prepared by our pastor when he served as our deacon. If you have questions, please ask.
